Houston poised to make noise in Texas

Cougars can raise profile with bowl win lifting final rankings

Houston Coach Tom Herman’s recruiting pitch, particularly in the state of Texas, is already a solid one.

The first-year coach no doubt has highlighted a 2015 season that features national rankings, an AAC title and a 12-1 record. That’s a pretty picture compared to unranked Texas with its 5-7 season that missed out on a bowl bid, unranked Texas Tech at 7-6 with an embarrassing 56-27 bowl loss to LSU and unranked Texas A&M (8-4), which tied for fifth in the SEC West at 4-4. ...
